We are happy to announce that Rosemary Joyce of Berkeley University (USA) will address the keynote talk of TAG-Turkey III.

Known for her pioneering studies on past gender, sex, and sexualities and the intertwined relationship between power and material culture, Rosemary Joyce’s research has focused on Mesoamerican archaeology from the 1970s onwards. Her research is concerned with the core question of how things make people and people make things in negotiating social roles and identities. She has published several seminal works, including “Gender and Power in Prehispanic Mesoamerica” and “Ancient Bodies, Ancient Lives: Sex, Gender, and Archaeology”.

The keynote talk of Rosemary Joyce at the third meeting of TAG-Turkey will address the embodiment of gender, sex, and sexualities in archaeological contexts, and how approaches of embodiment, materiality, and performance could contribute to our understanding of social identities in the past.
